Notarianni named chief technology officer for WED

WOONSOCKET – On June 29, 2016, the Woonsocket School Committee appointed Alfred Notarianni as chief technology officer of the Woonsocket Education Department.

Notarianni’s work experience includes a stint as acting technology coordinator for the North Smithfield school district; technology E-Rate consultant and district technology coordinator in the Preston Public Schools, and most recently the director of technology for the Tiverton school district since 2009.

As Director of Technology, Notarianni provided a district strategic technology vision through the development of a district technology plan. Notarianni’s duties during his former position as director of technology included the following: ensuring district technology readiness for online state assessments, including PARCC; overseeing security and communication systems; overseeing maintenance, daily monitoring, and updates of the district information system; project manager for the Wireless Classroom Initiative Grant Phases I and II; coordinated the implementation of Project Lead the Way at Tiverton high school and middle school; and arranged support digital-based professional development for staff.

Notarianni received a bachelor of science in computer information systems from Bryant University in 2002.

He replaces former CTO Alan Graham and will begin his tenure on Tuesday, July 19.
