Ellen C. (Gunderson) Carpenter – Scituate

Ellen C. (Gunderson) Carpenter, 93, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016, due to complications from Alzheimer's disease. She was the wife of the late Edward R. Carpenter.

Born in New York, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Ellen (Galster) Gunderson. Mrs. Carpenter was a real estate broker and along with her husband, Edward, was the owner of Long Realty, Inc. of North Scituate from 1959-1980, now run by their son Brian. She had been a Scituate, Glocester and Foster resident since 1951 and enjoyed traveling all over the world with her late husband, family and friends.

She was the mother of Brian E. Carpenter and his wife the Rev. Susan Carpenter of North Scituate and the late Russell M. Carpenter. She was the sister of the late Norman and Charles Gunderson; grandmother of Scott Carpenter and Peter Carpenter and his wife, Bethany; great-grandmother of Nathan and Joshua Carpenter.

The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at the Village at Waterman Lake for the excellent care they have given Mrs. Carpenter during the seven years that she has been a resident there.

Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours in the Tucker-Quinn Funeral Chapel, 643 Putnam Ave., Route 44, Greenville, Sunday, September 4, 2016, from 3to 6pm, with a funeral service immediately following at 6 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Thomas Church Capital Campaign, 1 Smith Avenue, Greenville, RI 02828 will be appreciated.
