Roland W. Bacon – Cumberland

Roland W. Bacon, 78, of Florida and formerly of Cumberland, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016. He was the beloved husband of Laurette (Maynard) Bacon. They were happily married for 58 years.

Born in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Elmer and Lorenza ( Rochefort) Bacon. Roland lived most of his life in Cumberland before moving to Florida 13 years ago. He was the former owner of Roland W. Bacon & Sons, Inc. for 28 years, retiring in 2003. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was altar server for Christ the King Church, Florida.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Michele Smith and her husband, Brian; Steven Bacon and his wife, Gina; Laurie Sands, and Scott Bacon and his wife, Gretchen; a sister, Beatrice Dusablon; six grandchildren, Katharine Smith, Elizabeth Hannon, Kyle Bacon, Andrew Bacon, Jacob Sands and Alyssa Sands; two great grandchildren, Lyla and Lacey Hannon; and two nieces, Sharon Paulin and Gail Thomas. He was the grandfather of the late Jonathan and Anna Bacon.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016, at 10 a.m. from the O’Neill Funeral Home, 3102 Mendon Road, Cumberland, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Saint Ambrose Church, 191 School St., Lincoln. Burial will be private. Visiting hours are Tuesday, 4-7 p.m., in the funeral home.
