Kathleen M. Hart – Cumberland

Kathleen M. (Schofield) Hart, 67, of Cumberland, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at home with her loving family by her side.

Born in Central Falls, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Dorothy (Kelley) Schofield.

A lifelong resident of Cumberland, Kathleen was a school teacher in the Cumberland School Department for 34 years, retiring in 2007. Post retirement, she was a resource teacher at Mercymount Country Day School and worked for over 10 years at Cracker Barrel Country Store.

She was a member of the Rainbow Girls, a member of the Diamond Hill Cemetery Association, and was an active parishioner at Four Corners Community Chapel for over 35 years. She was a supporter of her children’s sports and activities, and she enjoyed summers on Cape Cod and winters skiing in Rangeley, Maine. She was passionate about animals, having numerous pets throughout her lifetime and was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan.

She is survived by her two beloved children, Brian (Jennifer) Hart Jr. and Meaghan (Jon) Gonthier. She is also survived by her brothers Ronald (Janice) Schofield and Sean Schofield, her brother-in-law Richard Girard, and many nieces, nephews, and special friends. She was the sister of the late Karen Girard and Robert Schofield.

Relatives and friends are invited to a service Saturday, Feb. 2 at 11 a.m., at Four Corners Community Chapel, 200 Angell Road, Cumberland. Visiting hours will be held Friday, Feb. 1 from 4 to 7 p.m., at the O’Neill Funeral Home, 3102 Mendon Road, Cumberland. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution in Kathleen’s name can be made payable to the Town of Cumberland, noting the animal care fund, and can be sent to the Town of Cumberland, Attn: Finance Department, 45 Broad Street, Cumberland, RI 02864.
