Police track down suspect in salon robbery


On March 15, at around 3 p.m., Dustin French, of 20 Annette Ave., Pawtucket, turned himself in to the Rhode Island State Police Lincoln Barracks and was taken into custody on an active arrest warrant stemming from an armed robbery on March 12 at the oMa Hair Design, located at 251 Cottage St.

French was later transported to the Pawtucket Police Station for processing.

French is being charged with four counts of first-degree robbery and one count of larceny under $1,500. Additional charges may be forthcoming.

French appeared before a before a bail commissioner on March 16 and was held without bail. He will appear in Providence District Court on Monday, March 18, for formal arraignment. He will also be presented as a probation violator.

PAWTUCKET – Police say they spent several hours Tuesday night attempting to reach a suspect at a home on Annette Avenue, only to find out that he wasn't there.

On March 12, Pawtucket resident Dustin French, 31, was identified in the armed robbery occurring at oMa Hair Design at 251 Cottage St. earlier in the day. Detectives and patrol officers responded to an address on Annette Avenue where they believe French may have been residing. A person leaving the house stated that French was inside. Police established a perimeter around the home and a negotiator arrived to speak with the suspect, with no answer. Rhode Island State Police were notified and dispatched their Special Response Team to the scene.

After several hours of attempting to reach the suspect with negative results, State Police entered the house to conduct a search. A full search was conducted, but French wasn't there.
