Civil War Era Brass Band and more in Foster

FOSTER –Borders Farm presents the Providence Brigade Band in concert at 31 North Road, on Saturday, June 15.

Bring your picnic, bring your blanket, bring your family and spread out on the lawn under the shade of the trees for an afternoon of old-time music and more.

Formed in 1846, the Providence Brigade Band continues in the tradition of the early brass bands of that time. The band members dress in military uniforms and play music of the period on instruments from the Civil War era.

Docents will provide house tours of the 1840 Phillips Farmhouse from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

At 11 a.m., a draft horse demonstration will be presented.

At 1:30 p.m., Foster Scout Troop 101 will conduct a flag retirement ceremony.

The Providence Brigade Band begins their performance at 2 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public, although donations to the farm are always welcome.
