Clinton A. Hickerson– Cumberland

Clinton A. Hickerson, 92, of Cumberland, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2019, at Hope Hospice and Palliative Care, Providence. He was the husband of Janice M. (Swindells) Hickerson.

Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Clinton and Delia (Breault) Hickerson. He resided in Cumberland for most of his life.

Following high school, Mr. Hickerson entered the United States Navy served in the Pacific Theatre during active combat and was present for the signing of surrender in Tokyo Bay during World War II aboard the USS St. Paul.

Clinton was a truck driver for the former McHale Sand & Gravel Company, River Sand & Gravel Company and the Pawtucket Ready Mix Company.

He was a member of the Cumberland Beagle Club. He enjoyed trap and target shooting, hunting, fishing and enjoyed his time tending to his vegetable garden. Those who love him will always remember his favorite response to almost every question... "Fine..."

In addition to his beloved wife, he leaves his son, David Hickerson, of North Providence; his daughter, Gail Lourenco, and her husband of West Warwick, his sister, Claire Larkin of Pennsylvania; his two grandchildren, Diana and James Lourenco of West Warwick; one great-grandson Henry Lourenco. He was the brother of the late Kenneth Hickerson, Clifford Hickerson and Donald Hickerson.

According with Mr. Hickerson’s final wishes, Life Celebration services will be private.
