Harold A. Hanson Sr. – Pawtucket

Harold A. Hanson Sr. passed away peacefully after a long illness on Monday, October 28, 2019, at the age of 87. He was the youngest of seven children, born to Willie Wild Hanson and Elmira Lecuyer Hanson.

He was preceded in death by his six siblings, Ernest, John, Raymond, Elmira, Roger and William.

He leaves his loving wife, of 66 years this Veterans Day, June Taylor Hanson, as well as his eldest son Harold A. Hanson Jr., and wife Merrill, and his youngest son James Hanson, and wife Rhonda.

Harold was the grandfather of Joshua Hanson (Kristen), Katie Hanson Kloss (Aaron), Michael Hanson (Shannon), Jeffrey Hanson (Stephanie), Justin Hanson (Krystal) and nine great-grandchildren, as well as his nieces and nephews.

Harold served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956 as a radar technician. He worked as a lacemaker and was an owner of Hanson Lace and later worked as an electronic technician for Texas Instruments in research and development. Upon his retirement, he and June wintered for many years in Florida as he grew to hate the New England weather, especially cold and snow.

His meticulous attention to detail and his quiet love of family and sense of humor will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. Most of all, we will miss his warm blue eyes and his kind smile.

A memorial service for family and friends will be held in the near future.
