Ex-SRA runner Johnston wins NE-10’s Rookie of the Year honor at Stonehill

EASTON, Mass. – Former St. Raphael Academy cross country and track and field standout Reilly Johnston, who graduated from high school this past spring and is a freshman on the Stonehill College men’s cross country team, was named the Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Year last Thursday afternoon.

Johnston recently helped the Skyhawks place second at the Northeast-10 Championships by placing ninth out of 149 competitors in a time of 27:38.4 on Jamesville Beach State Park’s 4.97-mile course in Onondaga County, N.Y. That performance helped Johnston earn All-Conference Second-Team honors.

Last weekend, Stonehill earned its 17th straight trip to the NCAA Division II Championships, which is scheduled for Nov. 23 in Sacramento, Calif., by finishing third out of 26 teams at the NCAA Division II East Regional Championships in Philadelphia. Johnston took 31st place in the 6.2-mile race in a time of 33:03.3.
