Robert (Bob) D. Van Winter Jr. – Cumberland

Robert (Bob) D. Van Winter Jr., 62, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully at home, Wednesday, November 13, 2019.

Bob was the beloved husband of 35 years to Marybeth (Reilly) Van Winter. He was born in Plainfield, New Jersey, grew up in North Reading, Mass., and was a Cumberland, R.I. resident for 33 years.

He was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He was a plastic’s manufacturer’s representative and President and sales representative for Van Winter Associates for over 34 years.

Besides his wife, Bob is survived by his children, Robert, and his wife, Jaci, Nicholas, and Andrew Van Winter; his sister-in-law, Lisa Reilly, and her partner, Don Doucette; and his brother-in-law, Bill Reilly, and his wife, Sue, along with their children Caroline and Benjamin. He also leaves behind his grandson, Jackson Van Winter.

Bob was a coach with Cumberland Youth Baseball and Lincoln Youth Hockey and an avid sports fan of his beloved N.E. Patriots, Boston Red Sox & Boston Bruins. He was also a member of Cumberland Parks & Recreation. Bob could often be found playing a spirited game of poker or cribbage and enjoying a cold beverage from one of his favorite craft breweries. He was very involved with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for many years, as a member of the Board of Trustees and past president of the Board and volunteer for the National Marrow Donor program.

The funeral will be held Tuesday, November 19, at 9 a.m., from the O’Neill Funeral Home, 3102 Mendon Road, Cumberland, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., in Saint John Vianney Church, 3609 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to visiting hours Monday, from 4 to 7 P.M., in the O’Neill Funeral Home.
