NORTH PROVIDENCE – The Marieville Neighborhood Partnership, the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 13, and North Providence Fire Fighters Local 2334 are partnering up for their first winter coat drive this year.

Residents are invited to drop off new or gently used coats at the North Providence Public Safety Complex, any fire station, Fab-You-Us, 1420 Mineral Spring Ave., or Knights of Columbus, 15 Bassett St.

The owners of Midway Laundry, 1818 Mineral Spring Ave., have offered to wash all the collected coats before they are distributed.

The drive benefits North Providence children and families who need a little extra protection against the cold this season. The community partners will also be donating and distributing new hats, gloves and scarves as part of the charitable effort. Youth and adult clothing items are accepted.

The Marieville Neighborhood Partnership and safety unions previously worked together doing a community clean-up and have pledged to continue working together to help the community.
