Police arrest acupuncture doctor on rape charges

PAWTUCKET – Police have arrested a local acupuncture doctor, Luguang Luo, 64, of Seekonk, Mass., on one count of first-degree sexual assault (rape) and one count of second-degree sexual assault.

On Jan. 23, detectives David Silva and Andrew Torres began an investigation into an alleged sexual assault that took place at The Center for Natural Healing, 126 Prospect St., between October and December of last year.

The investigation culminated Feb. 4 with the arrest of Luo, who was arraigned in Providence District Court that afternoon and held without bail. A scheduled bail hearing was set for Feb. 20.

During the investigation, detectives learned there may be additional victims. Pawtucket police are urging anyone who may have had contact with Dr. Luo in a similar manner to come forward and contact Det. Silva at 401-727-9100, ext. 760, or Det. Torres, at 401-727-9100, ext. 769.
