PAWTUCKET – The Pawtucket Country Club hosted the YMCA of Pawtucket’s 130th Annual Meeting on Jan. 28. Staff, volunteers and guests gathered to reflect on the accomplishments that have been made over the past year. Those gathered also recognized the contributions of community partners and outlined governance updates for the new year.

Honoring a longstanding Y tradition, the evening recognized members of the community who have helped the Y accomplish its mission through support and volunteerism.

This year’s Spirit Award was presented to Kevin Tracy, who has served on the Y’s Board of Directors for nearly 20 years. Currently marketing executive of business banking at Bank of America, he has long supported the Y with financial and strategic expertise.

“Kevin has been a tremendous advocate and supporter of the YMCA of Pawtucket for years,” said Charlie Clifford, CEO of the Y. “His expertise in finance has been invaluable as we strive to enhance and expand vital programs in the communities we serve. The Y is blessed to have a committed community leader of Kevin’s caliber supporting the mission.”

Tracy was also recognized by the state of Rhode Island with a citation from Gov. Gina Raimondo’s office, and the city of Pawtucket offered a citation from Mayor Donald Grebien.

In addition to Tracy, the following members also retired from the Y Board this year: Douglas Brown, Marc Dupuis, Dana Newbrook, Robert Oster, and Rev. George Peters.

The following new members were welcomed: Dr. Patrick Nugent, a physician and long-time Woonsocket Y member and annual campaign volunteer; Denise Sablone, vice president of tour management at Collette; and William Hunt, longtime Y board member and former board president returning after a one-year hiatus.

The Y also recognized Joan Herman of the Woonsocket Y with the Volunteer of the Year award. A veteran member and strong supporter of the Y, Herman was honored for her recruitment of a number of volunteers and for successfully raising more than $500 from her aqua aerobic class.

The event was sponsored by Navigant Credit Union.
