Woonsocket announces emergency meal sites

WOONSOCKET – The Woonsocket Education Department has announced emergency meal sites to serve families amid the measures in place due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Beginning Tuesday, March 17, the Woonsocket Education Department in collaboration with Sodexo will provide free "grab and go" meals for children at three school sites. Children must be present. The sites are:

• Hamlet Middle School, 60 Florence Drive

• Kevin K. Coleman Elementary School, 92 Second Ave.

• Citizens Memorial Elementary School, 250 Winthrop St.

Each site will be open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Service lines will be located at the front entrance of each school. No families will be allowed into the buildings. Sodexo staff will hand children packaged breakfasts and lunches.

Several local restaurants, including Goodstuff Smokehouse on Main Street in Blackstone, Coffee and Cream on Victory Highway in North Smithfield and Patriots Diner on Cumberland Hill Road in Woonsocket, have also announced free breakfasts or lunch for children for the duration of the school changes.
