Pawtucket woman accused of stabbing boyfriend with scissors

PAWTUCKET – Police have charged a woman they say stabbed her boyfriend in the eye with scissors early Friday morning.

Shortly after 1 a.m. on Friday, Pawtucket police officers responded to 12 Nickerson St. for a report of multiple people stabbing themselves.

Upon arrival, officers encountered a 56-year-old man of 12 Nickerson St who was covered in blood and had a serious injury to his right eye. The victim first advised officers that he was involved in a fight with another man. Officers searching the scene found a female, later identified as Yves Bernadette Sylvain, 43, of Chalkstone Ave. in Providence, hiding under a vehicle. Sylvain was also covered in blood and was holding a pair of scissors. Sylvain admitted to officers that she was the person who stabbed her boyfriend. The victim and suspect were transported to the hospital for medical treatment.

Both the victim and suspect remain hospitalized.

Sylvain was charged with domestic felony assault and domestic disorderly conduct. She will be arraigned at a later date.
