Denise Lorraine Dufault – Florida

Denise Lorraine Dufault – Florida

On Easter Sunday morning, Denise Lorraine Dufault, 48, passed away peacefully in her sleep.

She was born and raised in the once primarily French Canadian city of Woonsocket, R.I. For most of her adult life, Denise made Southwest Florida her home. She was educated at George Street School and the Woonsocket Catholic Regional School System in her elementary school years. She attended and graduated from Mount Saint Charles Academy. Up until her very last days, Denise was in-touch with many of her classmates, whom she loved dearly. She also studied paralegal at Edison State College, then criminal justice at Florida Gulf Coast University.

As a young child, she had many interests such as playing basketball, softball and volleyball for the St. Louis Parish CYO. Denise was a very thoughtful and caring person. That especially showed in her service as a high-school candy-striper volunteer at Landmark Medical Center and then as a CNA for Mount Saint Rita Nursing Home after graduation.

Although Denise had been away from her French culture for many years, she would often speak of it with great fondness, in a very heavy French-Canadian accent. She loved Tourtierre (French meat pie), Autocrat coffee milk syrup, hermits from Wright's Dairy Farm and R.I. staples such as Del's Lemonade and New England clam chowder and clam cakes.

Her love and affection for animals of all kinds, was certainly proven in the adoptions of the many fur babies along the way. That was especially seen when it came to her 20 year-old pup, Brownie, whom she left behind. Denise is also survived by her parents, Ronald & Pauline Dufault of Cumberland, R.I.; a brother, Ron Dufault, and maternal aunt, Lorraine Belleville, from Rhode Island. She was the loving and devoted granddaughter to her late Memere "Mem" Marguerite St. Sauveur, of whom she often brought up in conversation. She was the ultimate best friend to Collette (Dumas) Kennedy.

Denise was in great loving care of her "MaTante" Priscilla and her husband, Glen, of Southwest Florida. She left behind many friends from childhood, rescues, churches and homeless shelters she belonged to. She will be missed.

Jusqu'a ce que nous nous revoyions, belle fille.
