Walmart employee accused of stealing $13,000 in electronics

NORTH SMITHFIELD – A Woonsocket man has been accused of stealing more than $13,000 worth of electronics from the Dowling Village Walmart where he was an employee.

Rafael Davila Rodriguez, 27, was arrested by North Smithfield Police on Monday, May 11, and charged with embezzlement and fraudulent conversion. According to a statement by police, Davila Rodriguez was an employee of the Walmart at Dowling Village.

Over the course of April, Davila Rodriguez allegedly stole 21 Nintendo Switches, 10 iPhone 11 phones, four Apple Airpods, four GPS units and one Yeti Nano. The total value of the stolen devices, according to police, is $13,491.83.

The suspect was booked, processed and released. He is scheduled to appear in court for arraignment on Sept. 10.
