Pawtucket Hall of Fame banquet canceled

PAWTUCKET – In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Pawtucket Hall of Fame Committee has voted to postpone its annual Awards Banquet, which was scheduled for Nov. 6.

While the committee shared in the disappointment of not hosting an event this year where selected inductees are honored for their achievements and overall positive impact on the city of Pawtucket, several factors came into play that influenced the committee’s decision, according to a press release. The Pawtucket Hall of Fame Awards Banquet annually held at the Pawtucket Armory Arts Center is a local celebration that typically attracts up to 300 guests and often includes attendees traveling from beyond Rhode Island borders. Consideration was given to the overall safety issues, as well as the state’s new COVID-19 restrictions placed on group gatherings. The committee said it believed it was best to wait a year to maintain a quality event that Pawtucket would be proud of.

All nominations currently received will be considered for 2021.
