Johnson & Wales honors Simanski in inaugural Chi Alpha Sigma class

PROVIDENCE – Cassidy Simanski, a 2016 graduate of Cumberland High who concluded her senior season as a defenseman on last winter’s Johnson and Wales University women’s hockey team, was one of 84 student-athletes that the university welcomed into its first class of the Chi Alpha Sigma honor society.

The organization “recognizes college student-athletes who receive a varsity letter in their sport, while maintaining a 3.4 or higher cumulative GPA throughout their junior and/or senior years and display excellent character and citizenship.”

Simanski, who had been a member of the Mount Saint Charles/Cumberland/Lincoln co-op girls’ hockey team in high school, scored eight goals and added a dozen assists in 104 games for the Wildcats. Seven of her goals came on the power play, and four were game-winners.

During her collegiate career, Simanski also earned berths on the CHC All-Academic and NEHC Academic All-Conference Teams.
