Woonsocket DMV reopens Monday

WOONSOCKET – The Woonsocket branch of the Rhode Island Division of Motor Vehicles will reopen on Monday, June 1, according to an announcement from the state's Department of Revenue.

The branch located at 200 Diamond Hill Road will be open with expanded hours from Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Reservations are required in advance. To make a reservation, visit www.dmv.ri.gov.

The state had previously closed several branches of the DMV amid the measures due to COVID-19, most recently serving customers by appointment at the Cranston headquarters.

“The Division has continued serving customers since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic with a reservation service at our Cranston headquarters,” said DMV Administrator Walter R. “Bud” Craddock. “The reservation service, coupled with adherence to the COVID-19 procedures recommended by the R.I. Department of Health, allows us to return service to our branches in a safe and orderly manner.”

The department reminded residents that expiration dates for driver's licenses, inspection stickers and registrations that were due to expire in March, April or May have been extended for 90 days. Credentials and documents with June expiration dates have also been extended and are now due for renewal in September.

License or registration renewals can also be completed online.
