Derek R. Desjardin & Dawn Marie Lebeau

Derek R. Desjardin & Dawn Marie Lebeau

Derek R. Desjardin, 30, loving father, son, and grandson; champion bowler; expert landscaper; proud resident of Woonsocket; and good friend to many, died tragically, unexpectedly, and senselessly at his home on Friday, June 26, 2020, just three days following the death of his dear mother, Dawn Marie LeBeau, 51, also of Woonsocket, who died on June 23.

Derek is survived by his wife and mother of his children, Jessica (Tebbets); his beloved son, Landyn, and daughter, Angel-Leighna, all in Ridgeway, S.C.; his brother, Ryan LeBeau; his devoted maternal grandmother, Patricia “Pat” (Brodeur) Desjardin; supportive Uncles, Keith and Michael of Woonsocket, Todd of Pascoag; a dear Aunt, Sarah Desjardin of Woonsocket; and several close cousins including Keith R. Desjardin Jr., with whom he shared a brotherly bond. Also mourning his passing are many good friends, neighbors, and fellow Greenfield landscapers, especially his kindly mentor, Tony Chausse. Derek is also survived by his siblings, Elizabeth and Robert Audette Jr. He was predeceased by his parents, Timothy and Dawn (Desjardin) LeBeau, and his maternal grandfather, Louis Desjardin.

An animal lover, Derek’s care and affection will be missed by his “fur-family” members including his Chihuahua, Ozzy; Boots, the Calico cat; and Thumper, the lion-head bunny. Derek was a much-loved man who was well-known and endeared to many in the community.

Just as he was an avid and “award-winning” bowler, he had an “award-winning” and infectious smile, gone too soon. He had a sweet soul and disposition, a non-confrontational, “always-there-to-help” personality, and the most important thing to him was his dear family, all of whom he cherished. Derek loved nothing more than the wonderful times he spent by the ever-burning fire pit with family and friends (and a few beers and marshmallows, too!). He will be sorely missed but fondly remembered and revered by all who knew and loved him.

He worked long, hard hours as a crew foreman for Greenfield Landscaping Company and previously as a mechanic at Walnut Hill Lanes, both in Woonsocket. Dependable as the day is long, Derek never missed a day of work and was a valued and respected member of all teams and groups with which he was ever associated. He received numerous awards for his bowling acumen, and enjoyed swimming, tricks on the trampoline, cooking, grilling, and just chilling!

The Berarducci Funeral Home& Cremation Care Center, 185 Spring St., Woonsocket, has been entrusted with the care and arrangements for Derek and Dawn. Visitation for both these dear souls will be held on Saturday, July 4 – Derek’s favorite holiday – from 4 to 7 p.m., with a memorial service at 6:30 p.m.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, cloth face and nose coverings will be required and no more than 25 persons will be allowed in the building at any one time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations directly to the family would be appreciated. Condolences may be left at .
