Verity: Council has big role in decision making

Regarding the article in The Observer on June 18, “Commission proposes elected administrator, no FTM,” Mr. Costantino repeats again and again, “We’re putting it up to the voters to decide ...” It is my understanding that the Charter Review Commission forwards their recommendations to the Town Council. And it is the Town Council who decides which, if any, recommendations go before the voters on a ballot. Mr. Costantino appears to forget about the Town Council’s role in this decision-making. The commission is not putting it up to the voters to decide. The commission is simply making recommendations to the Town Council. The council decides which will go on a ballot. I hope Mr. Costantino and the commission members are reminded of this very important step in their deliberations.
