B & G Club announces opening of summer programs

PAWTUCKET – The Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket announced the opening of summer programs to be held at the Alfred Elson Jr. Clubhouse.

Each year when school closes for the summer, the club offers several summer programs with an array of opportunities for youth to stay engaged throughout the summer, including Camp Ramsbottom. Earlier this year, Club CEO Jim Hoyt, along with leadership staff at the club, decided to close camp for the summer due to the restrictions in place surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. However, club staff have developed club summer programming that is deemed to be both safe and engaging for pre-teens and teens to participate in from July 6 to Aug. 14.

The Pre-Teen Summer Program is designed for 60 youth ages 6-12 and will provide an engaging summer program. With activities running throughout the day, the program will focus on three main areas: learning through play, service learning, and social-emotional wellness. All participants will be provided with a nutritious morning snack and lunch meals daily, fun activities, and interaction with professional and caring staff. Programs and activities range from educational to artistic to community service focused to recreational.

The Teen Summer Program is designed for 50 youth ages 13-18, with an array of activities running throughout the day. Teen summer programming at the club offers much of what the club typically provides during the school year. In accordance with current guidelines from the CDC and state of Rhode Island, teens will be placed in pods of 13 based on their interests and will participate in fun activities with their peers.

Registration for both of these programs is limited. For more information or to register, visit the website: https://bgcpawt.org/summer-programs/ . For questions, call 401-722-8840.
