Man killed in Pawtucket motorcycle crash identified

PAWTUCKET – The victim in a July 18 motorcycle accident in Pawtucket has been identified as Alexander Pina, 27, of Pawtucket. A female passenger, 24, was badly injured but remains in stable condition.

Both the victim and female passenger were wearing helmets at the time of the accident. There are no criminal charges pending.

On Saturday, July 18, at about 1:20 a.m., members of the Pawtucket Police and Fire Departments responded to the intersection of Cottage Street and Central Avenue for a report of a head-on collision involving a motorcycle and a vehicle. The man operating the motorcycle, Pina, age 27, was pronounced dead at the scene. The operator and occupants of the vehicle did not sustain any injuries.

The investigation is ongoing and there are no criminal charges at this time, say police. Witness accounts indicate that the motorcyclist was traveling at a high rate of speed.
