Karen A. Maus & William Maus Jr. – Blackstone

Karen A. (Mills) Maus, 79, passed away on April 29, 2020, at the Blair House of Worcester, Mass. William Maus Jr. 80, passed away on May 26, 2020, at UMASS Memorial Medical Center, Worcester, Mass. They were married for 45 years and passed within one month of each other.

They leave their nine children, Jannie Kelleter, husband, Stephen, of Woonsocket, R.I.; Doreen Neil, husband, Skip, of Brooksville, Fla.; Scott Dion, wife, Marianna, of Uxbridge, Mass.; Lance Maus, Dunnellon, Fla.; Brett Maus, Dunnellon, Fla.; Krista Plante, husband, John, of Cumberland, R.I.; Page Maus, husband, Alberto Balasteros, of Tampa, Fla.; Thomas David Howell, wife, Norma, of Ocean Springs, Miss., Donna Timmons, of Massachusetts; 25 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Karen was born on Nov. 1, 1940, the daughter of the late Robert and Marion (Garland) Mills. She was the sister of the late brother Stephen Mills. Karen was a caregiver for many family members throughout her life. A resident of Blackstone since 1988 formerly of Bellingham and Milford, Mass. and was a graduate of Milford High School Class of 1958. She worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Carchidi in Medway, Mass., for many years until retiring in 2008. She had also worked as a courier for Milford Shoe Co. for many years. Karen enjoyed reading, traveling and fine dining.

William was born on Sept. 2, 1939, in Needham, Mass., the son of the late William and Irma M. (Baker) Maus Sr. He was the brother of Ralph “Bud” Maus of Lebanon, Kan., Alan Maus of Framingham, Mass., and his late sister, Louise Poquette. A resident of Blackstone since 1988 formerly of Bellingham, Mass., he was a graduate of Bellingham High School Class of 1957 and served as class president for all four years and then attended UMASS Amherst. He was active in sports and on every team and three sports in college and semi-pro basketball for 15 years and was an Olympic Trial participant.

William had worked as a Realtor for Choice Real Estate in Medway, Mass., a mortgage originator for the Bank of Canton, and over 35 years in auto dealership sales and management in Mass. and R.I. He ran for state representative in 1972. He was a former member of the Franklin Lions Club. He enjoyed sports, crossword puzzles, reading, traveling and fine dining.

William and Karen will be greatly missed by their loving family and friends.

Their funeral service will be held together on Friday, July 31, at the Blackstone Valley Baptist Church, 40 Pine Swamp Road, Cumberland, R.I., with visiting hour from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Charles Cemetery, Farm St., Blackstone, Mass. Social distancing, face masks and hand sanitizing are required for all phases of services.
