Lincoln Housing Authority receives Award of Merit

LINCOLN – The National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials recently selected Lincoln Housing Authority as a recipient of a 2020 Award of Merit in the Administrative Innovation category.

The program honored, Public Housing Applicant Group Information Sessions, aims to decrease unit vacancy time while expediting the lease up process and decreasing administrative burden by creating a streamlined and uniform approach.

Many applicants struggle with the thought of moving. These innovative information sessions work to create a streamlined process that highlights the requirements and history of the public housing program, while also educating potential applicants about how to best prepare themselves for such a significant life-changing event like a move. Applicants are given the information they need, given time to ask questions, process this information and mentally prepare to undertake the moving process.

The NAHRO Awards of Merit program was created more than 20 years ago to recognize agencies who found innovative ways of making a difference in their communities and in the lives of the people they serve by creating affordable housing, revitalizing their neighborhoods, and developing initiatives such as job readiness programs, public-private partnerships, disaster prevention projects and more.
