Audubon offers Bird Feeding 101 and photo shoot

SMITHFIELD – Audubon Powder Mill Ledges Wildlife Refuge, 12 Sanderson Road, announces the following programs.

• Bird Feeding 101: Thursday, Sept. 17, 6:30-8 p.m. Learn about types of feeders, types of seed and feeder placement as well as some tips and tricks for attracting the critters you want and deterring the ones you don’t.

The fee is $10/member; $14/non-member. Open to teens and adults.

• Raptor Photo Shoot: Saturday, Sept. 19, 10 a.m.-noon. Get up close with a great horned owl, eastern screech owl, red tailed hawk, and barred owl. Each bird will be placed in a natural setting for that perfect shot. No tents. No crowds. No jostling for position. While you click, hear about each species, their natural history and their ecological place in Rhode Island. Space is limited.

The fee is $65/member; $75/non-member. Open to teens and adults.

Face masks and social distancing are required. Participants must bring their own masks.
