City announces photo contest winners

The first-place winner of the City of Pawucket 22nd Annual Photo Contest is “Rooted in History,” by Richard Hebert of Pawtucket. All winning photos will be used in the City of Pawtucket 2021 Photo Calendar.

PAWTUCKET – More than 90 entries were received for consideration for the City of Pawtucket 22nd Annual Photo Contest, which created the city’s first virtual exhibit on the city website, . Aside from Pawtucket, submissions were received from Cumberland, North Providence, Providence, Lincoln, Warwick and Rehoboth, Mass.

From these entries, 12 winning photos were selected by a panel of local professional photographers.

Following tradition, one winning photo was chosen by Mayor Donald Grebien for the distinct honor of being used for the cover shot. All winning photos will be used in the City of Pawtucket’s 2021 Photo Calendar. Calendars are made available free of charge and can be found in Pawtucket City Hall in late December.

The winners are: First Place, “Rooted in History,” Richard Hebert, Pawtucket; Second Place, “Moon at Slater Mill,” Jim Hendrickson, North Providence; Third Place, “Flowers in the City,” Danny Boone.

Honorable Mentions: “Just Part of the Journey,” Barbara Fontes, Pawtucket; “Splendor of Afternoon Light,” Alan Roseman, Rehoboth, Mass.; “The Soul of Pawtucket at the Oak Hill Hootennanny,” Elaine Sandy, Providence; “Woodpecker in Tree Hollow At Slater Park,” James Frechette, Pawtucket; “Fairy Door,” Richard Andrews, Rehoboth, Mass.; “Cluster,” Kerri Jacob, Pawtucket; Jayden Jacob, student – Fallon Memorial School; “Fire Setting,” Chris Bailey, Pawtucket.

Mayor’s Choice Award: Avery Morales, student – Flora S. Curtis Elementary.
