North Providence Library offers watercolor class and more

NORTH PROVIDENCE – The North Providence Union Free Library announces the following events.

• A Watercolor Painting Class for beginners will be held on Saturday, Oct., 24, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Local artist Sue Greco will lead this program for adults 16 and up to learn basic techniques while painting a pumpkin picture. This class will be held outside, weather permitting, or in the large community room. Masks are required. Registration is required by calling 401-353-5600, ext. 2.

• The Virtual Science Club for 3rd-5th-graders meets on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. through Oct. 27.

• 2020 North Providence Union Free Library Book Character Election: Elsa Oldenburg for president and Anna Oldenburg for vice president, from Disney’s “Frozen,” vs. Hermione Granger for president and Ginny Weasley for vice president from “Harry Potter.” Vote using this Survey Monkey link: . One vote per person ... election results will be posted on Wednesday, Nov. 4. Stop by the Children’s Department to get an “I Voted” sticker once you’ve submitted your choice.

• Meet Rhode Island Children’s Authors on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 10 a.m. to noon. The event will feature local authors Tom Carrol, Denise Flagg, Sue Greco, and Donna McCarthy. Drop in to meet and greet these authors, listen to a story and have the opportunity to purchase a book.

• Come and Trick-or-Treat at the library on Halloween, Oct. 31, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Staff will be in costume and ready to hand out a special candy or non-candy treat to those who visit in their Halloween costumes. A pumpkin patch backdrop will be available for anyone who would like to take Halloween selfies.
