NP Youth Soccer Association names new board members

NORTH PROVIDENCE – The North Providence Youth Soccer Association recently announced its new executive board members, with North Providence High head girls’ soccer coach Kabba Joof now serving as the NPYSA’s president.

According to a press release from NPYSA secretary Eddie Ciotti, Tim Pedchenko stepped down as the NPYSA’s president, but will be serving as the chairman of the board “to make sure the transition goes smoothly, and he will act as a liaison if needed.”

The NPYSA’s vice president is Aldo Luna, the treasurer is Sue Ragano, and the registrar is John Duarte. Ciotti and Duarte are the lone holdovers from the previous board of directors.

Ciotti also reported that Tony Fernandes, who had served as the chairman of the board, “is completely stepping away from soccer, retiring if you will. He’s been part of the league for over 25 years as a coach, board member, league president, and so on, and he ran the concession stand for years, week in and week out.”

Fernandes spent “countless hours at meetings and at the field, making sure the field was ready to play and painted, etc.,” added Ciotti. “He basically gave his spare time to this league.”
