Archetto calls for attention to town villages

SCITUATE – Scituate Town Council candidate Debra Archetto, a Democrat, called for a renewed focus and attention to the Scituate villages as a source of economic activity.

“Our villages were once the social and economic hub of our community, and we need to re-focus our attention on them to encourage more mixed-used development to spur more economic activity,”Archetto said.

“We need a complete review of our zoning code, village overlay restrictions, and water needs to make our villages more business friendly and inviting. This can only be done by someone who understands planning issues and has the ability to seek out grants and incentives that are available at the state and federal level, like a town planner.

“The only way we can get relief from rising property tax bills is by creating a vibrant small business community in our town, and that must first start with our historic village,” she noted.
