GLOCESTER – State Rep. Mike Chippendale, a Republican, is seeking re-election to the Rhode Island House of Representatives District 40, representing Foster, Glocester, and western Coventry.

In Chippendale’s time in the legislature, he stated, he has remained focused on the reduction of taxes on the state level, as well as stopping the “pass-through” items that leaders use to balance the state budget, while passing these costs down to municipalities. Having a small business community in rural Rhode Island, these added local costs can only be absorbed by increasing property taxes, he said. Our localities cannot continue to bear the brunt of bad policies by a lopsided majority-controlled legislature, said Chippendale.

As the longest serving member of House Oversight, Chippendale said he has also remained hyper-focused on corruption, and incompetence in state departments such with as the Department of Children, Youth and Families, the United Health Infrastructure Project computer debacle, and has made a lasting impact on these areas of state government.
