Quattrocchi against passenger vehicle tolling

SCITUATE – With state budget deficit figures approaching $1 billion for 2021, Rep. Robert Quattrocchi, incumbent in District 41, said he vows to oppose efforts by Rhode Island’s General Assembly to add passenger vehicles to current tractor trailer only tolling.

“The only protections R.I. residents received against the future tolling of their cars on our highways were verbal promises, which amount to nothing,” said Quattrocchi.

“Despite a current ongoing federal lawsuit against the state of Rhode Island, initiated by local and national trucking organizations, on the constitutionality of tolling trucks only, we see construction of tolling gantries is full steam ahead. I’m concerned that the tolling of cars will be implemented to make up for revenue shortfalls and budget deficits, pre-COVID and current,” Quattrocchi said.
