John Paul Kelly III - Cumberland

John Paul Kelly III, "Jay” 61, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully Nov. 14.

He was the beloved husband of Mary (Towner) Kelly. Jay was the son of Louise (Lanigan) Kelly and the late John Paul Kelly II. Growing up, he was very involved in the Cumberland/Lincoln Boys Club, and was a graduate of Rhode Island College. He operated his own business, selling kitchen and bath supplies for Kelly & Associates for many years prior to retiring. From his youth to his last summer, Jay enjoyed his annual vacations at Newfound Lake, N.H., with his entire family.

Jay was a member of the Suburban Adventure Club in Boston, as well as a longtime volunteer at Merrimack Repertory Theater. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan, and a former season-ticket holder at the Lowell Spinners. Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by five children, Michelle Andolfo and her husband Adam, Lauren Young and her husband Paul, Victoria Billington, Alexandria Billington, and Thomas Billington. Jay was the proud grandfather to Parker Young and Cole Andolfo. He also leaves behind three sisters, Kathleen Spoerer, Julie Small, and Maureen Handy. Jay will be missed by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 10 a.m., in Saint John Vianney Church, 3609 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Visiting hours are Tuesday, Nov. 17, from 5 to 7 p.m., in the O'Neill Funeral Home, 3102 Mendon Road, Cumberland. Burial will be private. Due to current restrictions, social distancing and masks are required.
