Library offering hotspots and story times

NORTH PROVIDENCE – The North Providence Union Free Library has 21 mobile hotspots available to town residents to borrow. Patrons may borrow the hotspot for one week for internet home use. For more information, visit the library or call 401-353-5600, ext. 2. Patrons who borrow a mobile hotspot must sign a contract upon checkout.

To help the library stay open, patrons are asked to limit browsing to 15 minutes, self-screen for symptoms before entering the library and must wear a mask. Lobby pick-up is offered during open hours of the library. Call 401-353-5600, ext. 2, to schedule a pick-up time. Meeting rooms are closed and seating is available only for computers. Computer usage is by appointment, so call 401-353-5600, ext. 3.

The North Providence Children’s Department is excited to offer two new eight-week “Tale”-Gating Storytimes.

“Tale”-Gating Storytime at the pool will be held on Tuesdays through March 2, at 9:30 a.m. This storytime will meet in the pool parking lot behind the library.

“Tale”-Gating Storytime at Notte Park will be held on Wednesdays from Jan. 13 to March 3 at 9:30 a.m. This storytime will meet in the lower parking lot at Governor Notte Park.

Patrons are encouraged to bring chairs, chalk to decorate their own space, blankets, and to dress for the weather. Masks are required for everyone over age 2. Registration is required, so call the children’s department at 401-353-5600, ext. 5.

The North Providence Library staff say they’re excited to offer a Mead Instruments Telescope for adult patrons to borrow. The library also offers preloaded Paperwhite Kindles, available to adult patrons. There is a three-week loan, with more than 200 titles preloaded. Call 401-353-5600, ext. 2, for more information.
