MLK Committee to host virtual events

WOONSOCKET – Woonsocket’s MLK Community Committee will mark its 20th anniversary of honoring the life and legacy of Dr. King this weekend with several events that strive to unite the community and support youth.

Here is the schedule:

• Monday, Jan. 18, 11 a.m.: Memorial Ceremony – Committee members will meet at the MLK Memorial Sculpture Garden at the intersection of South Main and Mason streets for the wreath-laying ceremony. While this year’s ceremony will just be with committee members, it will be streamed on the Woonsocket MLK Community Committee page on Facebook for all to participate.

• Monday, Jan. 18, 2-3:30 p.m.: A Community Conversation on Civil Rights – This conversation will start with a reflective video that highlights past and present, from national issues to local issues around civil rights. After the video, a Zoom discussion moderated by MLK Committee members will be open for all to participate in or watch on Facebook Live.
