Leaving no neighbor behind

Leaving no neighbor behind

Leave No Neighbor Behind is an international program started by the Knights of Columbus with a million dollar donation to provide relief in cities hard hit by the coronavirus in the United States and Canada.

In Lincoln we have participated in Leave No Neighbor Behind with our weekly collections of food and donations to support our neighboring food banks. We have received matching funds from the million dollar fund established by the Supreme Knights of Columbus.

When we saw that the tragic fire in Manville had displaced so many people, the Lincoln Council Knights of Columbus saw this as another challenge to Leave No Neighbor Behind. We asked for and received donations of clothes and gift cards and other items. Our neighbors responded.

The Breeze has done an excellent job reporting on the support to the town of Lincoln’s efforts to collect clothes and gift cards which was an overwhelming success. The donations were not only from Lincoln, but also from neighboring communities. This is a perfect example of leaving no neighbor behind. We often think of neighbors as those who live close by, but neighbor encompasses more than our own neighborhood.

We saw this at the Lincoln Council Knights of Columbus. Our efforts were generously supported by the Saint Vincent de Paul Society of St Joseph’s church in Ashton, and the Bouffard Council Knights of Columbus in North Providence. We thank our neighbors in Cumberland and North Providence.
