Bette Jaswell - Scituate

Bette Jaswell - Scituate

Bette Cynthia (Fitts) Jaswell passed away in her Scituate home of 50 years surrounded by family on Jan. 21, after a full life at age 74. Bette was born on Dec. 5, 1946, in Providence, to Stanley and Jessie (Naylor) Fitts.

She was the youngest sibling to Stephen Fitts of Florida, and the late Christine Dionne (Fitts), the devoted wife of 53 years to Frederick P. Jaswell Sr., and the dedicated mother to six children; her three daughters, Christine E. Jaswell of Scituate, Kathleen M. Labossiere and her husband Robert of Glocester, and Gina-Maria Polseno and her husband John of Greenville, and her three sons, Frederick Jr., David and Jason Jaswell, all of Scituate.

She leaves behind a close family of six grandchildren; Matthew, Kyle, Jason, Thomas, Meaghan and Caitlin, and one large cat, Grady. Bette graduated Ponagansett High School in 1965 and briefly worked as a keypunch operator before marrying. She committed her life to her family and six children, whom she always remained close to. She lived life on her own terms, enjoying several years of travel across the U.S. with her husband. In her later years, she stayed close to home, enjoying a quiet lifestyle of crocheting and quilt making, reading, puzzles, gardening and savoring frequent visits from all her children and grandchildren.

She requested a private departure with no service. Bette will live on through the love she created for herself in the hearts of others. Arrangements by Winfield & Sons Funeral Home.
