Alma M. Saravara – Millville, Mass.

Alma (Casey) Saravara, Millville, Mass.; passed away peacefully at 99 years old on Feb. 8, in Blackstone Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center, Whitinsville (formerly St. Camillus Healthcare).

She was born on April 6, 1921, in Douglas, Mass., the daughter of the late Nancy (Casey) Peters. Alma was the beloved wife of John Saravara. They were married for 45 years before his passing in 1986.

Alma worked up until 91. Alma’s last job was with Walmart, in Woonsocket, where she was a greeter for nine years before retiring. Alma’s extensive working career included caregiver for the late Samuel Medoff of Woonsocket, Harmony Hill School where she was the cook, Nyanza Mills, Schuster’s Woolen Mill, Ilona Mills, U.S. Rubber and Hanora Mills. Alma enjoyed people, especially her family. Her pleasant welcoming smile opened the hearts of everyone she met. Her home cooking, warmth and love made every family gathering a most special time to remember.

She is survived by her daughter, Jane Prokop, of Lisbon, Conn., and a son, Wayne Saravara, of Thompson, Conn., three grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and predeceased granddaughter Tammy Saravara Paul.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Whitcomb House in Milford for the enjoyable stay Alma spent in assisted living and the extended special and compassionate care provided by the nurses and staff at Blackstone Valley Rehabilitation Center in Whitinsville, Mass.

Due to the pandemic restrictions, a memorial mass will be planned for the spring of 2021.
