Loraine Brown – Woonsocket

Loraine Brown – Woonsocket

A good woman and worker, wonderful mother, grandmother, friend, and life-long Woonsocket resident, Loraine Brown, 79, died unexpectedly on February 1, 2021, at Woonsocket Health Center, after experiencing a whirl-wind of health issues.

Born on July 3, 1941, to James and Angelina (Blouin) Brown, she was raised in a traditional Franco-American home, educated in Woonsocket Public Schools, and earned an associate degree at Bryant College.
Dedicated, determined, and hard-working, Loraine enjoyed her various employment experiences and many co-workers. She was an executive secretary for many years at the former NRI Community Mental Health Center and later served as a caregiver and guardian at several of the agency’s group homes. She was also a skilled stitcher, having been employed by Needlecraft Inc. and ultimately retiring from Tytec in the early 2000’s.

Among Lorraine’s favorite activities were computer games, game and reality TV shows, dining out, traveling throughout New England, and any time spent with family.

Mourning Loraine’s passing are her loyal daughters, Melissa Brown of Woonsocket and Linda Santos of Pawtucket; cherished grandchildren, Brandon, Brihanna, and Erica Brown and Justine Santos; and dear friend, Jackie Cassidy. She also leaves a brother, William Brown in Louisiana and was predeceased by her son, Mark Brown, and just recently, her grandson, Nathan (Nate) Hunt, who died tragically in October, 2020.

Arrangements are entrusted to The Berarducci-Tatro Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, 185 Spring St., Woonsocket, where services will be held on Wednesday, March 17, beginning with visitation from 9 to 1 a.m., immediately followed by committal at St. Jean-Baptiste Cemetery in Bellingham, Mass.

A dual celebration of the lives of Loraine and Nate will be held at a later date. Meanwhile, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations directly to the family would be appreciated. Condolences may be left at www.ProvidenceCremation.com .
