Marjolaine R. “Margie” Martel – Burrillville

Marjolaine R. “Margie” (Darveau) Martel, 68, of Harrisville, R.I., passed away on Saturday, March 20, 2021, at UMass Memorial Medical Center, Worcester, Mass., after a long illness.

She was the loving mother of Jason R. Savage and his wife, Hope, of Woonsocket, R.I. She leaves her cherished grandchildren Reese Savage of Blackstone, Mass., Cheyenne Savage of Woonsocket, R.I., and her great-grandson, Brandon. She leaves her partner Albert Gregoire of Harrisville, R.I.

Born in Hamsud, P.Q., Canada, she is the daughter of Marie Claire (Beaurivage) Darveau of Asbestos, P.Q., Canada, and the late Oscar Darveau. She is the sister of Christian Darveau and wife, Karen Darveau, of South Kingston, R.I., Celine van Ireland of Houston, Texas, Ghislain J. Darveau and wife, Donna, of Woonsocket, R.I., and Sylvain M. Darveau and partner, Cheryl Johnson, of Woonsocket, R.I.

Margie had worked in housekeeping at the Village at Waterman Lake for eight years. Margie loved spending time with her children and grandchildren always planning cookouts. She loved to spend time in her garden with her flowers. She loved to get together with her friends to go bowling, play darts, pool, cards, Farkle, and ping-pong and was known as the queen of ping pong as she never lost a game. Her grandchildren looked forward to playing ping-pong with their grandmother when they visited. Margie loved soft rock and country music. Margie will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 30, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., at St. Paul’s Church, 48 Saint Paul St., Blackstone, Mass. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.
