Emile A. Robitaille – Cumberland

Emile A. Robitaille – Cumberland

Emile A. Robitaille, 85, of Cumberland, passed away Friday, March 26, 2021.

He was the beloved husband of Elaine (Levesque) Robitaille. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Wilfrid and Irene (Metivier) Robitaille.

Emile was a manager for the former Almacs Supermarket for 37 years before retiring. Many of those years were spent at the South Attleboro, Mass., location where his friendly nature brought him to a first-name basis with regular customers. He was never too busy to say hello and ask how they were doing. This trait carried forward in retirement at the Chimney Hill Apartments where he resided with Elaine for the past 20 years. A quick walk to pick up the mail would easily turn into an hour’s long series of chats with the many residents encountered along the way, all of whom he considered friends. He also enjoyed playing pool with many at Chimney Hill in his retirement.

Emile’s greatest pleasure came from the times he shared with his family. He loved to reminisce about a holiday, birthday, graduation, or wedding. He would revel in memory of a majestic view of the White Mountains from a long-ago family vacation. Every event was special, and he always wanted others to know that he felt so.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Steven Robitaille and his wife, Joanna, of Waterford, Vt., and Bruce Robitaille and his wife, Diana Christie-Robitaille, of North Kingstown, R.I. He also leaves grandchildren Kathryn Dougherty and her husband, Ryan, of Dracut, Mass.; Timothy Robitaille and his wife, Arwen, of Rumford, R.I; Chloe Robitaille and her husband, Nathan Crawford, of Foster, R.I.; Tess Robitaille of Bristol, R.I; and great-grandchildren Leda, Tim, and Eloise. He was the brother of the late Albert and Wilfred Robitaille.
