Edward Franklin Turco – Lincoln

Edward Franklin Turco, 76, of Lincoln, passed away peacefully at his home with his wife by his side. He was the husband of Denise (Prive) Turco. They had been married for 40 years.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Alfred and Delia (DiMeo) Turco, he had resided in Lincoln for many years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, David Turco, of Cumberland; his granddaughter Emma Rose Turco also of Cumberland; his brother Alfred Turco and his companion, Maureen O’Dougherty, of Portland, Conn.; a niece, Ellen Schell, and a nephew, Jeffrey Turco.

Edward graduated from Brown University with a bachelor’s degree in 1967 and a master’s degree in 1971. He taught technical writing at CCRI in the late 1990s. He was also employed in the mailroom at Brown University.

His lifelong hobby and passion was astronomy and telescope making. He was a member of Skyscrapers Astronomical Society in Scituate, R.I., since 1961 where he gave many talks. He also shared his knowledge of telescope making with many people over the years.

As a Quaker, he attended Saylesville Meeting for many years. A memorial service will be held there, for him, at a future time.
