Local RIC swimmers receive NEISDA All-Academic honors

Laflamme, Picchioni, Sinyan, Vygoder enjoy excellent freshmen seasons with Anchorwomen

PROVIDENCE – Four local swimmers who were freshmen on this winter's Rhode Island College women’s swim team recently joined three of their RIC teammates on the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association's Fall All-Academic Team.

In order for a swimmer or a diver to make the All-Academic Team, the student-athlete must have a semester GPA of 3.50 or higher. Among RIC’s selections were Smithfield’s Meghan Laflamme, Cumberland’s Allison Picchioni, North Providence's Marie Sinyan, and Lincoln’s Anna Vygoder.

Last winter, Sinyan helped North Providence High win its first Division III championship in its programs history, and Vygoder, who earned Little East Conference's Rookie Swimmer of Week honors earlier in the season, helped Lincoln High capture the D-II crown last year.
