Elaine D. Pytka – Cumberland

Elaine D. Pytka – Cumberland

Elaine D. Pytka, 66, of Palm Springs, Calif., and formerly of Cumberland passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family.

She is the wife of retired Valley Falls Fire Department Deputy Chief Thomas J. Pytka. Elaine lived in Palm Springs for the past year to be close to her children, previously residing in Cumberland for more than 65 years.

Born in Central Falls, she was the daughter of the late Roland and Dora (Veins) Grenier, sister of the late Roland Grenier, Jr. Along with her husband, she is survived by her two children David M. Pytka and Kathleen A. Pytka of California; one brother, Richard Grenier, of Florida, and one sister, Debra Grenier-Anderson, of Kansas and several nieces and nephews.

Elaine’s family and friends gave her the love and strength she needed during the struggles of her lengthy illness. She loved her family, her beloved dog, Sushi, and her friends deeply. Elaine’s friends meant so much to her, that they were family.

She was a kindhearted person who genuinely loved helping others. She devoted years of her life volunteering with the Daughters of the Holy Spirit (White Sisters) and was elated helping those at Sir Charles Hallmark. When you think of Elaine, you think of a woman who was always happy, laughing and with a giant smile on her face and this is how she would want all of us to remember her.

Elaine's Life Celebration will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2021, beginning with visiting hours from 8 to 9:30 a.m., in J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., in St. Aidan-St. Patrick Parish, 1460 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Burial will be private.
