William (Bill) Degnan III – North Smithfield

William (Bill) Degnan III, 53, of North Smithfield, passed away at the Hope Health Hulitar Hospice Center on April 23, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was the loving husband of Patricia (Trish) for almost 30 years. He was the son of William Degnan Jr. and Jeanne Paquin. He is survived by two sons, William Degnan IV and Nicholas Degnan, as well as sisters, Christine, Colleen, Elizabeth and Jeanne, and seven nieces and nephews.

Bill studied computer science at Northeastern University and business at Bryant University. He owned and operated Ocean Lure Concepts in Smithfield for 20 years before becoming the production manager of National Vans in North Attleboro, Mass. Bill spent many years fishing with his father as co-captain of the sport fishing vessel, Ocean Lure. He was an avid golfer and a perennial face at the Hopedale Country Club. He was also a member at the Sayles Hill Rod and Gun Club.

Billy loved spending time with family and friends and was involved in many seasons of youth sports. He spent years cheering on the Patriots when they couldn’t get a win before sitting back and enjoying the years of dominance. Billy was a keen problem solver with a strong analytical mind. He loved to learn something new and never came across a project he couldn’t conquer.
