Rhoda Lynne (Tillinghast) Dexter, 86, of Central Village, Conn., and formerly of Moosup Valley, passed away Saturday, May 15, at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam, Conn.

Rhoda was born in Putnam, Conn., on January 13, 1935, daughter of the late Albert and Veda (Herbert) Tillinghast. She was the wife of the late Harold “Skip” Dexter, they were married at the South Killingly parsonage on May 1, 1954, Harold passed away in 2010.

Rhoda was a resident of Central Village and Moosup Valley. She worked for many years at Kaman Aerospace and later at the Plainfield Agway. Raised on a farm, Rhoda remained true to her upbringing by keeping a small farm with her husband Harold for many years. She loved her pets and livestock, gardening, going to country fairs and good home cooking. Rhoda loved visiting with family and friends over a cup of coffee and enjoyed leisurely rides in the backwoods with Harold after completing their daily chores. Her laughter and wit will be missed by all that knew her.

Rhoda is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, their spouses and children. She was predeceased by her brother Aubrey Tillinghast and her sister Leah Gray.

A graveside service will be held on Friday June 4, at 2 p.m., at Phillips Memorial Cemetery, Foster. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the Moosup Valley Congregational Church or the Moosup Valley Fire Department. Visit tillinghastfh.com .
