Jeanne Irene Benoit - Brooksville, Fla.

Mrs. Jeanne I. (Croteau) Benoit, age 70, of Brooksville, Fla., passed away early Wednesday morning, April 28, at Bayfront Health Brooksville, with her husband Leo by her side.

Born on June 19, 1950, in Woonsocket, Jeanne was the daughter of Albert and Lucienne (Platiau) Croteau. She joins many loving family members who have gone before her, including her father Albert and her brother Roger.

Jeanne graduated from Woonsocket High School, raised her two sons, and worked as a bus monitor for special needs students in North Smithfield, and later as a salesclerk in a department store. For five years after retirement, she provided day care for her two grandchildren, whom she adored. She was an avid traveler with her husband of 46 years and a lover of the arts, frequently attending theater and music performances throughout her life.

Jeanne is survived by her husband Leo of Brooksville, Fla.; her son Gérard and son-in-law Matthew Barone of Dummerston, Vt.; her son Michael of New York, N.Y.; her dear grandchildren Lucie and Marek Barone-Benoit of Dummerston, Vt.; her mother Lucienne of Woonsocket; and her sister Louise St. Jean and brother-in-law Gary St. Jean of Smithfield.

Jeanne loved her family above all else, and everyone who knew her appreciated her genuine love, her unquestionable kindness, and her gentle spirit.

Visiting hours were on Wednesday, May 26, at Holt Funeral Home, Woonsocket. Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 27, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Agatha's Church, 34 Joffre Ave., Woonsocket, followed by burial in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Bellingham, Mass.
