Richard T. Letourneau – Cumberland

Richard T. Letourneau, 89, a former 33 year resident of Cumberland, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2021, surrounded by his family, at his home in Sebastian, Fla.

He was born to the late Albert Letourneau and Yvonne Levasseur in Pawtucket, R.I.

He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Alice May (Crompton) Letourneau, and their seven children: Richard T. with wife, Sandy; Wayne F. with wife, Dori; Cheryl L. with husband, Kevork Kechichian; Bryan J.; Steven C. with wife, Stephanie; Renee S.; and Michelle N. with husband, Jeffrey King. He is also survived by his brother Maurice J. Letourneau and his wife, Dolores, as well as 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by brothers, Leo J., Alfred J., Raymond J., Normand J., Joseph A., Albert J., Edward J., and sister, Yvette Roy.

Richard joined the U.S. Air Force after high school in 1951 and served honorably and faithfully for 20 years with tours of duty around the U.S., Europe, Korea and Vietnam. He subsequently earned a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice and law enforcement from Bryant University and served as chief of security for the Postal Inspection Service in Providence, R.I.

Richard was an avid golfer, bowler and gardener, and loved spending time with his many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He happily retired to Sebastian, Fla., with his loving wife Alice, in 2003.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Richard's Life Celebration to be held on Friday, September 17, 2021, with visiting hours from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by a prayer service at 11 a.m., in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Cumberland. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, 261 West Wrentham Road, Cumberland.
