Going 8-for-27 in NFHS Coach of Year honors

The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) recently announced the 27 recipients of the Rhode Island Coach of the Year awards in their respective sports for the 2019-20 school year, and it was great to see eight head coaches from this area receive this recognition. (I honestly can't remember this part of the state boasting this many winners!)

Cumberland, North Smithfield, and Ponaganset boasted multiple winners, as did La Salle Academy, Bishop Hendricken, Barrington, and North Kingstown.

Receiving NFHS honors were Cumberland wrestling coach Colin Smith and girls' soccer coach John Hoxsie, N.S./Mount Saint Charles co-op head football coach Wes Pennington, N.S. head boys' soccer coach Eric Korytkowski, Ponaganset head softball coach Mike Calenda and head cheerleading coach Meg White, St. Raphael Academy head cross country coach Chris Magill, and North Providence High head swim coach Crystal Bogizian,
